On the way to Miami Beach, Naughty by Nature takes on Harlem Shake

The rap trio Naughty by Nature has been together for 25 years (it’s been a shocking 20 years since “Hip Hop Hooray” was nominated for a Grammy), but they refuse the allow a new generation to go without hearing a live version of “O.P.P.,” and for that we must be thankful.

Less thankful, perhaps, that they’ve been around long enough to be infected by the Harlem Shake virus, which they YouTubed this week from “somewhere in Virginia” (see below). But even in that setting, they show off the exuberance that make their live shows such a blast. We can go another 25 years without seeing Vinnie naked, however.

Treach and the boys bring their long-and-winding tour (March dates include Winter Haven; Las Vegas; Park City, Utah; Montreal; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) to Liv in the Fountainebleau Hotel (4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) at 11 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets: $40, $30 (women).  Info: 305-674-4680, LivNightclub.com.
