If you saw the Tedeschi Trucks Band in Boca Raton on Saturday (Sunshine Blues Festival review here), you don’t need much more reason to seek out tickets to the 2013 Wanee Music Festival than to know that they are part of this year’s impressive lineup.
Wanee, that glorious celebration of the jam-band ethos echoing through the mossy cathedral of Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park each spring, will return April 18-20 with a lineup topped by the host Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday via Music Today.
The rest of the lineup includes: Gov’t Mule, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Les Claypool’s Duo de Twang (pictured), Leon Russell, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, Michael Franti & Spearhead (below), Electric Hot Tuna (Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady), Tower of Power, Maceo Parker, Steel Pulse, North Mississippi Allstars, Blackberry Smoke, Galactic & Friends, the Greyboy Allstars (featuring Karl Denson), Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars (Tab Benoit, Cyril Neville, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Johnny Sansone, Waylon Thibodeaux and Johnny Vidacovich), the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the Revivalists, Royal Southern Brotherhood, Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio, the Lee Boys, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and Monophonics.
The Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic will perform April 19-20. Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch music and songwriting workshops also return.
The three-day general-admission pass is $195 Saturday-Feb 25 (increasing thereafter) and includes three nights of camping (April 18-20). Music starts at 12:30 p.m. April 18.
A VIP ticket is $495 and gets you access to a special viewing area near the stages; private restrooms; the VIP T-shirt, poster and laminate; the VIP-only pre-party; catered lunch and dinner Friday and Saturday; free snacks and soft drinks and beer discounts.
The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is in Live Oak, about 90 miles north of Gainesville. More info: WaneeFestival.com.
