Three DJs from across the nation competed for the opportunity to play at Univision’s 13th edition of Premios Juventud "PJ" (Hispanic Youth Awards). They battled poolside July 9 at the Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach.
The awards will take place at the Bank United Center in Coral Gables on July 14, and will be broadcast nationwide on the Spanish network. Premios Juventud is the only awards show for youth on Spanish-language TV, and is very much like a People’s Choice Awards. The nomination and selection process is done by the fans, who select candidates online and through social media. Awards are given to people in music, film, entertainment, social media and sports.
Enrique Santos, radio host of Univision’s nationally-sindicated Enrique Santos Morning Show on Mix 98.3 FM in Miami, judged the DJ@PJ competition for the second year.
"All three of the contestants here today win," Santos said. "It's great to take part with such young people really forming their musical careers. ... They’re really taking it to the next level."
