Polynesian Culture Festival: The Museum of Discovery and Science will bring the customs of the Polynesian islands to Fort Lauderdale in the opening of the film "Journey to the South Pacific" screening at the AutoNation IMAX 3D. The festival offers traditional dance shows, surfing and paddleboarding demonstrations, food tasting and Hula dance lessons.

Children can dress up in traditional outfits from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa and New Zealand and enter a coloring contest to win a plush animal. The festival also offers talks on coral reefs, sea turtles and constellations of the Southern sky. There will be demonstrations of Tahitian drum carving, Samoan tattoos and how to make leis with fresh flowers. The festival runs from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday through Monday at the Museum of Discovery and Science (401 SW Second St). $12-$19. Call 954-467-6637 or visit Mods.org.
