A Pompano Beach man stabbed his roommate to death during an argument early Saturday, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said Jacob Cagle, 23, stabbed Clarence Williams, 57, to death. The incident occurred shortly before 5:15 a.m. in the 200 block of Southwest Second Street, outside the men's home, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Dani Moschella. What sparked the argument was not yet known.
"The dispute moved out onto the street, down the sidewalk where one of the men apparently fatally stabbed the other man," Moschella said.
A 911 caller notified authorities, and deputies "just leaving BSO's Pompano Beach district office a few blocks away arrived on scene quickly," she said. They found the fatally wounded man on the ground about four houses from the men's home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cagle faces a first-degree murder charge.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue took him to Broward Health North. He had injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Moschella said.
