Intracoastal goes Broadway for Winterfest Boat Parade

Guests will soon line Fort Lauderdale waterways for a parade that is uniquely South Florida.

The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade will take place Dec. 9.

It will begin from the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale at 6:30 p.m. before traveling north on the Intracoastal to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. Grandstand viewing is at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, 3109 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.

The Winterfest White Party, recently held at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa, gave guests a taste of what to expect this December: a theme of Broadway on Parade.

The grand marshals will be country legends Big & Rich. Ken Ortner will be honored as this year's Commodore, and Genia Ellis is Belle of the Ball.

Other Winterfest activities are planned that lead up to the Boat Parade.

Florida Panthers Winterfest Family Fun Day will take place Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Huizenga Plaza, 32 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. The event will feature live music and a real ice rink outdoors.

The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Black Tie Ball will take place Dec. 2 at Hard Rock Live, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood. The event will feature the lead cast of "The Jersey Boys," as well as cocktails, and live and silent auctions. Black Tie Ball chairs are Susan Renneisen and Danielle Dattile.
