Winning a big pot, then seeing $5 disappear via the house rake certainly can hack into a bankroll. Now, Dania Jai-Alai has cut its rake from 2-6 p.m. daily, calling it "Happy Hour."
The max rake during that time is $2. (But they still also take the $2 jackpot rake that most card rooms snatch.)
The $2 rake also applies to all day Tuesday, when the fronton also offers $2 hot dogs and $2 draft beer. Most card rooms have a 10 percent rake, capped at $5 on pots of $50 or more. So each big hand you win during this time will mean $3 more in your pocket.
Meanwhile, there are tournaments twice daily in August: $35 to $50 at 11:30 a.m. Sundays through Fridays and at noon on Saturday; $35 to $75 at 7 p.m. daily. Some have bounties and all have at least a $500 guarantee.
There's also a $5,000 guarantee tournament Aug. 1 and Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. Buy-in is $100.
And the card room is promoting "a taste of the good old days," a reference to Friday night tournament action at Dania, with a $10K guarantee at 7 p.m. Aug. 22. Buy-in is $125.
Dania also has bad beat jackpots running and awards $1.50 per hour in cash games to spend on food. The room opens at 11 a.m. daily and runs 24 hours on weekends.
