First Hard Rock event draws 2,098 entrants

The first event of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Rock 'n' Roll Poker Open drew 2,098 entrants, and, predictably, ended in a chop.

Six players walked away with at least $17,000. Lee Stewart (the chip leader, and a member of the tribe), Kimani McKoy (Hollywood), Gehrig White (Charlotte, N.C.) and Willie Wiggins (Miramar) earned $21,573; Jeffrey Doan (Davie) and Allan Bieler (Sunrise) took home $17,000.

The tournament, which had six flights, allowed re-entries, and with that big of a pool, the payouts ran deep. The minimum cash was $294, and 126 players took home loot.

The No-limit Hold ‘Em Championship Event will be held Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 with a $1,650 buy-in for a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The Rock ’n’ Roll Poker Open will have a leaderboard with added prizes for the top 20 point earners during the 20-event series. First place will receive a $5,300 entry into the $10,000,000 Guaranteed Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Main Event in April 2014, a two-night stay at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood and a $200 gift certificate to Council Oak Steaks and Seafood.
