Florida's Largest Slot Tournament Sunday at Coconut Creek

Seminole Coconut Creek’s Florida’s Largest Slot Tournament is inviting players to vie for $80,000 in prize money, including $25,000 for first place.

It will start at 9 a.m. Sunday. (Registration will begin at 7 a.m.)

The tournament will have a Veteran’s Day theme, and will include a cake-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at CenterStage to honor the Marine Corps’ 238th birthday. Ciara Rae sings the National Anthem.

On Monday, veterans will get 50 percent off at Fresh Harvest Buffet for lunch and/or dinner. They must show a military ID for the discount.

The first tournament in January drew two shifts of players for a total of 1,941. (The casino keeps about half of its 2,300 machines open for patrons who prefer not to play in the tournament.) The world record was set in 2011 at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in California, which attracted 2,885 players.

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood, 866-502-7529, is giving away a Shelby GT500. Players can earn drawing entries from now until 5:59 p.m. Monday. The drawing will take place at 6 p.m. in the main lobby.Mardi Gras Casino (831 N. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-924-3200, patrons can participate in the Turkey Bowl at 1, 5 and 9 p.m. Thursdays. Six contestants in each round compete in the Turkey Bowl Trivia Game Show, where the winning team can gobble up $3,000. Players must earn 20 points to be eligible.

The Isle Casino and Racing (1800 SW Third St., Pompano Beach, 954-972-2000, keeps the Thanksgiving theme rolling with Gobble Gambles from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturdays. Five visitors will be picked to grab up to $1,000 cash.

Comedian Tracy Morgan (from “30 Rock”) will perform at 8:30 p.m. Friday before a best-bartender contest at Magic City Casino (450 NW 37th Ave., Miami, 305-649-3000, The next night, Expose will play at 9 p.m. as part of Miami Ultimate Voice. Tickets cost $50 and include a free drink.

Seminole Classic Casino (4150 N. State Road 7, 954-961-3220, offers Cornucopia of Cash from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays in November. The casino gives away $500 every 30 minutes. Two winning entries will be selected from the drawing drum.  


Bimini Superfast’s first casino promotion is open to all Genting Rewards members and runs through Dec. 30. There are more than $250,000 in prizes, including logo wear, free play and electronics. New Genting Rewards members get an opportunity to earn a scratch-off on their first day. Guests returning for a night cruise any Friday or Saturday during the promotion will be able to turn in an entry received with each scratch-off for $10 in free play and a chance to win one of three grand prizes every Friday and Saturday.
