Big stars, big changes coming to Hard Rock concert venue

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood, 800-937-0010, SeminoleHardRockHollywood.com) continues to attract baby boomers and Gen Xers with big entertainers from their generations.

Future concerts include Huey Lewis and the News (“The Heart of Rock and Roll”; $40-$95) April 20, the Gipsy Kings (“Bamboleo”; $53-$73) May 5 and Kenny Loggins (“Danger Zone”; $45-$85) May 15.

In July, KC and the Sunshine Band (“Shake Your Booty”), Steve Miller Band (“Take the Money and Run”) with Peter Frampton (“Baby, I Love Your Way”), Rod Stewart (“Da Ya Think I’m Sexy”) with Cyndi Lauper (“Girls Just Want To Have Fun”) and Britney Spears (“Oops! … I Did It Again”) will perform.

Standup acts include comedians John Mulaney April 21 ($40-$70), Dane Cook May 12 ($55-125) and George Lopez May 26 ($50-$90).

Hard Rock Live, the concert hall, will be demolished this month as part of major renovations on the property. It’s been temporarily replaced by Hard Rock Event Center, a 3,500-seat venue whose first show will be this Saturday, March 10. The Tenderloins, the comedy troupe that created truTV’s “Impractical Jokers” ($50-$95), will perform.

Next year, a 6,500-seat venue will debut at the Hard Rock Live area.

TAKE YOUR PICK

No one has won the 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino (901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-454-7000, GulfstreamPark.com), which totaled $2,483,855 for Wednesday, March 7. That’s an increase of more than $600,000 over last Wednesday’s pick-6.

The jackpot was last hit on Jan. 28, when a record $19.8 million pool was split among several winning tickets worth $15,566. To win, you have to guess the first-place finishers in the card’s final six races.

ODDS AND ENDS

John J. Brunetti Sr., who in 1977 bought what today is called Hialeah Park Racing and Casino (100 E. 32nd St., 305-885-8000, HialeahPark.com), died on March 2. He was 87. A memorial service will take place 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the clubhouse.

On March 3, with a bet of $4.40, a slots player won a $93,000 jackpot on Tree of Wealth in the high-limit area at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino, slot operations manager Lisa Siples tells me. The winner was a night owl who got lucky at about 3 a.m.
