Casino hours on Christmas Day and Eve

South Florida casinos will be open at Christmastime, but be sure to check their schedules before visiting. Below is a sampling.

The Casino at Dania Beach (301 E. Dania Beach Blvd., 954-920-1511, CasinoDaniaBeach.com) will have regular operations on Christmas Eve, and will be open from noon to 3 a.m. Christmas Day.

At Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino (901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-454-7000, GulfstreamPark.com), the casino will remain open as usual, but no horseracing will take place on Christmas Day or Dec. 27. The various restaurants and shops set their own hours.

On Christmas Eve at Palm Beach Kennel Club (1111 N. Congress Ave., West Palm Beach, 561-683-2222, PBKennelClub.com), the poker room will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., but the Paddock Restaurant will be closed all day. The greyhound track will have matinee racing only, closing at 6 p.m.

On Christmas Day, no dogs will race, but you can play poker from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Magic City Casino (450 NW 37th Ave., Miami, 305-649-3000, MagicCityCasino.com) will have regular casino hours on Christmas Eve, although simulcasting and Big Mouth Café will close at 6 p.m. On Christmas Day, the casino will operate from noon to 4 a.m., but simulcasting will be closed. The café will open at noon.

Casino Miami (3500 NW 37th Ave., 305-633-6400, PlayCasinoMiami.com) will extend its hours, closing on Tuesday at 4 a.m. instead of on Monday.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood, 800-937-0010, SeminoleHardRockHollywood.com) and Seminole Casino Coconut Creek (5550 NW 40th St., 954-977-6700, CasinoCoco.com) will be open as usual. On Christmas Eve from 5 to 10 p.m. and on Christmas Day from 4 to 10 p.m., Coco’s NYY Steak will have a three-course prix fixe special for $90 per person and a la carte specials.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will host its annual Lucky Hearts Poker Open Jan. 11-23.

The tournament opens with a $1,100 buy-in WPTDeepStacks event featuring a purse guaranteed at $1 million and closes with the $3,500 buy-in WPT Main Tour Championship, which has at least $2 million up for grabs.

And then, there’s the $50,000 Super High Roller No-Limit Hold ’em (Re-entry) with $1 million guaranteed to be paid out.

The no-limit hold ’em Jan. 22-24 will cost you only $150 to play, and you might win part of the $50,000 payout.

Satellite events will be played Jan 9-10.

THAT’S A SEASON, JAI ALAI FANS

The fall jai alai season ended this weekend at the Casino at Dania Beach. In the doubles challenge, the A group match was played on Friday with Diego and Urbieta defeating Zulaika and Israel 15-11. (Players go by one name in jai alai.)

In the singles run-out challenge, Bailo became champion of the B group after winning the final seven games and Diego was the A group champ with 13 wins.
