Gulfstream pulls out Thanksgiving promotions

Many casinos offer some kind of Thanksgiving-themed promotion, but Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino (901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-454-7000, has three this month. From 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays is Turkey Fights. Players who earn 100 slot points are eligible. Contestants will take turns pulling numbers from a punch board. Each number will be tallied on a turkey thermometer. The first player to reach to 1,000 degrees on the thermometer will win $1,000 in free play. Second place is $200 in free play. From 6 to 10 p.m. Thursdays, the Stuff Your Bird Slot Tournament will be open to players who have won at least 25 slot points. The top 20 will get free play, including $1,000 to the winner. From noon to 5 p.m. Fridays is the It's All Gravy Game Show. The first-place team will split $5,000n  cash.

Meanwhile, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek (5550 NW 40th St., 954-977-6700, will hold the Turkey Trot Race at 6, 8 and 10 p.m. Thursday and Nov. 14. Eighteen winners will be named each night, with a max prize of $10,000.

Most casinos hold end-of-the-month car giveaways, but Calder Casino and Race Course (21001 NW 27th Ave., Miami Gardens, 305-625-1311, is doing things differently. The prize is a GMC Terrain on Friday. Slot players can earn drawing entries on Friday only. Everybody gets one free entry, with additional entries for every 10 points. So there will be a lot of slot-playing going on. The drawing for the car will take place at 10 p.m. A $1,000 free play bonus drawing will be held at 10:30 p.m.

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood, 866-502-7529, will follow suit next week by giving away a Shelby GT500. Players can earn drawing entries from now until 5:59 p.m. Nov. 11. The drawing will take place at 6 p.m. in the main lobby.

Tonight, Seminole Classic Casino (4150 N. State Road 7, 954-961-3220, will begin a Black Friday promotion that will continue throughout November. Every 15 minutes from 7 to 9:45 p.m., two patrons will win $500 to $2,000 in free play. Then, at 10 p.m., it’s the grand prize drawing, with two prizes of $4,000 cash.

The Gin Blossoms will kick off an Ultimate Miami Weekend Thursday at Magic City Casino (450 NW 37th Ave., Miami, 305-649-3000, The alternative rock band will take the stage at 9 p.m. as finalists compete for a $5,000 prize. Tracy Morgan will perform at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 8 during the bartender contest, and Expose will play at 9 p.m. Saturday in Miami Ultimate Voice. Tickets cost $50 each and include a free drink.
