Lotto adds smartphone game feature

The Florida Lottery has upped its digital game, with smartphone and tablet access that could yield a trip to Ireland.

In case you forgot, this is St. Patrick's Day. So the timing of this announcement isn't accidental. It's called the Lucky Lotto Collect & Win Promotion, and Florida Lotto players can collect lucky symbols using their smartphone, tablet or computer for the chance to win trips for two to Ireland, cash prizes of up to $7,777 and tablets.

“This is the first promotion the Lottery has offered in which players can enter using an interactive app, which provides additional fun as players collect symbols to earn entries into the promotional drawings,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O’Connell.

All Lotto and Lotto with Extra tickets purchased through April 27 are eligible for this promotion. Also during this time, Lotto tickets received as part of a Jackpot Combo purchase are eligible for the Lucky Lotto Collect & Win Promotion. Players can enter by downloading the free FLA Lucky Lotto app on their smartphone or tablet and use the app to scan the barcode on the ticket. Or, players using a computer can visit and type the ticket number to enter.

For each qualifying Florida Lotto ticket entered, one of six different lucky symbols will appear on one of the four game cards. When all six symbols have been collected on a game card, the player will automatically earn one entry into the next Lucky Lotto Collect & Win drawing. Four weekly drawings will be held, in which 22 players will win cash prizes up to $7,777 or a new tablet. On April 29, a grand prize drawing will be held, in which 10 players will win trips to Ireland and 20 players will win $7,777. All entries earned during the promotion, excluding those selected as winners in a weekly drawing, will automatically be entered into the grand prize drawing.
