Mardi Gras starts club for patrons 100-plus

You know, not every casino cares about its very elderly guests. They usually don't drop much coin and they don't feed into the marketing storyline of a venue being a hopping, happening place.

Then there's Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach. Sunday, the casino kicked off the 100+ Krewe Club -- for gamblers 100 and over -- with a presentation and outing Sunday.

The initial foray yielded two playes: Rose Supino, 102, and Rose Steinberg, 101 (left in the photo). They enjoyed lunch at French Quarter while they were presented with a new 100+ Krewe Club Card and necklace.

After lunch, the pair and accompanying entourage boarded the Mardi Gras Party Bus for the Original Florida Follies Show in Coconut Creek, where they were recognized during the show.

“We are so proud and honored to celebrate an important segment of our Mardi Gras family, our centenarians,” said Catherine Reside, Mardi Gras Casino chief operating executive.

Any other player 100 and over is encouraged to join the 100-Plus Krewe Club by presenting their ID at the player's club. More info at
