Mardi Gras expands to big free-roll Saturday

The Big Easy Poker Room at Mardi Gras Casino has established a nice base with free tournaments. Now it's ramping things up a bit.

At 7 p.m. Saturday is a soup-ed up version of the tournaments, with $2,500 guaranteed prize money and $1,000 guaranteed for first. It's the first time trying a weekend free roll. Players start with 500 units; they can add on 5,000 more for $30 ($10 to dealers, $20 to prize pool). Unlimited re-buys of $20 through the first six rounds and up to two $30 add-ons for 5,000 after round six.

Nore than 600 people a week participate in Mardi Gras' freerolls, soon to be even more if Saturday sticks. There are also four $1,500-guarantee free-roll events: Texas hold 'em at 7 p.m. Monday and Thursday, pot-limit Omaha on Wednesday and a shootout format on Sunday.
