Boca man, 75, wins $2 million via Mega Money

Bernard Synkowicz, 75, of Boca Raton, claimed the Aug. 20 Mega Money jackpot of $2 million at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.

Synkowicz chose the one-time, lump-sum payment option for his winnings, in the amount of $1,500,846.70, and will share it with his children.

If you're into college sports, you'll know this is a rivalry family. Synkowicz plays every week with his daughter, a Florida State University graduate, and his son, a University of Florida graduate.

“I am a fan of both teams and usually cheer for whoever is having a better season, but my children are die-hard fans of their separate alma maters,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Publix, located at 21230 St. Andrews Blvd. in Boca Raton.

The next Mega Moneydrawing will be at 11:15 tonight. Winning numbers are available on the Lottery website,
