The "Big Slick" tournament at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is back, and it drew 700 entries over the weekend.
The tournament, which had been among the most expensive in South Florida in years past -- before the World Poker Tour and others moved in -- cost $350 for a buy-in. The 700 entries created a prize pool of $210,000, surpassing the poker room's $200K guarantee.
Six players still alive divided the remaining prize money, with Brandon Colburn earning the most, $35,370. (I can't find any info on him, can someone help?) First prize had been set at $53,781 before the chop was negotiated.
The next tournament is Oct. 3-6.
Meanwhile, the Seminole Hard Rock Everglades Poker Open Runs Sept. 19-30. More than $350,000 in guaranteed prize pools from a variety of buy-in levels and games will be offered. The series opens with a $350 buy-in No-limit Hold 'em Deep Stack event featuring a $150,000 guarantee. From Sept. 27 – 29, players can vie for a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool with a $560 buy-in.
