12-12-12: Four casino promotions

Gambling is partially about numbers — and partially about superstition — so it makes sense that some casinos are offering special promotions on the last symmetrical day of this century.

To acknowledge Dec. 12, 2012 — longhand for 12-12-12 — here are four promotions.

The Isle Casino and Racing (1800 SW Third St., Pompano-Park.IsleofCapriCasinos.com) is giving away $1,200 cash to three players each at noon, 3, 6 and 9 p.m. to slot players. (Note: That’s three players times four giveaways, which equals … )

At 7 p.m., Seminole Casino Coconut Creek (5550 NW 40th St., Coconut Creek, SeminoleCasinoCoconutCreek.com) will give away $1,200 every 12 minutes until 11 p.m.

Meanwhile, Seminole Casino Hollywood Classic (4150 N. State Road 7, Seminolehollywoodcasino.com) is giving qualified players — that is, those who regularly gamble there — some love by the dozens, too. For each slot point earned from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., they’ll multiply it by 12.

And one good hand can make for a big payday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino’s poker room (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood) on Wednesday. The best hand each hour from noon to midnight will receive $1,200. The rest of the players at the table will share $400. The casino is at 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood. Call 866-502-7529 or go to SeminoleHardRockHollywood.com.

Note that the folks dealing the cards and turning on the slot machines aren’t the ones who invented this 12-12-12 thing. South Floridians have said they’re penciling in weddings and holiday parties for Wednesday. Then there’s “12.12.12: The Concert for Sandy Relief,” a music fundraiser in New York City. And Dec. 12 is also World Hoop Day, an international event that raises money to buy hula-hoops for needy kids that was held last year on Nov. 11 (11-11-11) and the year before on Oct. 10 (10-10-10).
