The band is still touring, its music is upbeat, and its shows attract the same demographic that loves slot machines.
So that makes the Beach Boys a slam-dunk entry into the world of slots. Last week, the Beach Boys slot machine rolled out at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood and Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.
Mike Trask, corporate communications manager for game manufacturer Bally Technologies, says the Beach Boys machine has the same appeal as the company’s Grease game, which it released last year.
“First, is the awesome demographics,” he says. “It’s no secret the average player is 45-plus, and they’re a lot of the Baby Boomer-type generation.
“And, in this case, they grew up with the Beach Boys and they know all the songs.”
In the game, Beach Boys album covers rotate across the board, and footage of the group in concert appears on the screen during the bonus round.
The game got some extra love at the Hard Rock Monday night, when Mike Love and Bruce Johnston stopped by for a photo op before their show at Hard Rock Live.
