Maria Mirambeau, of Hollywood claimed the top prize in a $10 scratch-off game "$5,000 a Week for Life." But that's not her prize.
Mirambeau, 49, chose to receive the winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $4,236,014.38. She purchased her winning Scratch-Off ticket at Sunoco, located at 11951 West Okeechobee Street in Hialeah Gardens.
Upon purchasing her winning ticket, Mirambeau promised the store clerk $100 a week if she won, and she has every intention of keeping that promise.
“The store clerk kissed my ticket to make it lucky, so I am going to hold up my end of the deal,” said Mirambeau. “When I returned to the store to tell her that I had won she was more excited than I was.”
The first Lucky for Life-themed Scratch-Off game was introduced 17 years ago with the launch of Win for Life, a $2 game.
In 2004, the $10 game Set for Life was launched, offering $5,000 a year for life top prizes. Later, the first $20 Lucky for Life ticket offering $100,000 a year for life top prizes was introduced.
The Florida Lottery offers more than 60 Scratch-Off games at any given time through vending machines and counter displays at more than 13,000 retailers statewide.
