The Florida Lottery on Tuesday launched its $50,000 Gridiron Cash Scratch-Off ticket, featuring the Florida State Seminoles and the Florida Gators. This college football rivalry ticket offers more than $20 million in total cash prizes, including 10 top prizes of $50,000 -- plus some tickets to games if you enter your losing ticket.
Tickets are $2.
Players have until Nov. 4 to enter their losing scratch-off tickets via the Lottery’s website. Three drawings will be held from Sept. 11 and Nov. 6, with 140 winners selected in each drawing. Prize are: A Hyundai Sonata GLS, a bowl game package for two, season tickets, single-game tickets and pre-game hospitality passes and hats and T-shirts from the schools.
“We are thrilled to show our support for both the Seminoles and the Gators,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O'Connell in the press release. “This game gives us the unique opportunity not only to show support for college football in Florida, but also to generate funds for the universities and students through ticket sales, which are estimated to generate more than $5.5 million to Florida’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.”
The University of Florida and Florida State University are known for their long-standing rivalry and football traditions and are home to the largest alumni fan base and boast the largest stadiums with the highest home game attendance in the state, lottery officials note. In addition, the lottery teams up with the University of Miami to sponsor a student athlete of the week and other colleges and universities to host Ice Cream Socials honoring Bright Futures Scholarship recipients on each campus, lottery officials note.
