Gulfstream Park's New Year's Eve plans include a party and a New Year's Day Thoroughbred program with four stakes races.
Gulfstream has adjusted its racing schedule slightly this week. Gulfstream, usually dark for live racing on Monday and Tuesday, will be dark this week on Monday and Wednesday.
A New Year's Day program will be run Tuesday with a 10-race program restricted to 3-year-olds. The card will include four stakes races including the $100,000 Gulfstream Park Derby, the official beginning of the country's road to the Florida Derby and Kentucky Derby, a Gulfstream press release says.
Gulfstream will kick off the party Monday, New Year's Eve, at 7 p.m. with a free party in its walking ring. There will a live band, disc jockey, giveaways, party favors and a free champagne toast at midnight. When the clock strikes midnight, there will be a laser light show in the walking ring.
Along with festivities in the walking ring, Gulfstream's New England style restaurant, The Fountain Club, which overlooks the walking ring, will be open for dining while Sport of Kings will also open for a New Year's Party from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. with free admission and free champagne for females.
