The guarantee is "only" $5 million, but the entry fee has been reduced. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino announced a $5 million guarantee for its annual World Poker Tour tournament in April.
The Seminole Hard Rock made news in August with its $10 million guarantee, which with rebuys drew 2,384 entrants paying $5,300, making for an $11.9 million prize pool.
This time, the buy-in will by $3,500 for the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown April 10-16.
“Our recent August Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open brought local, regional, national and international players together to take part in a historic event and experience our world renowned resort amenities and first-class poker operations,” said Larry Mullin, COO of Seminole Gaming, via a press release. “We were thrilled with the positive responses to the SHRPO and are now very excited to offer the $3,500 buy-in for the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.” Earlier unofficial reports had the tournament being a duplicate of August, with a $10 million guarantee.
Other announced 2014 dates include the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open returning Aug. 6 – 28 and the Seminole Hard Rock ‘N Roll Poker Open running Nov. 13 - Dec. 1.
