The inaugural Honda Classic Charity Poker Tournament is set for noon Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Palm Beach Kennel Club and it carries a very affordable buy-in: $50.
The tournament benefits Nicklaus Children’s Healthcare Foundation, a charity started in 2004 by golfer Jack Nicklaus and his wife, Barbara. It funds children’s outpatient medical facilities in Palm Beach county. There are currently three outpatient facilities that have been built through money raised from the Foundation (NCHCF.org), which is the primary beneficiary of The Honda Classic tournament each year.
The tournament will have a prize pool of $5,000 in cash and prizes. The top 10 percent wins cash, and sthe champion is expected to win a prize package of $800 cash, a spot in the 2014 WSOP circuit event at PB Kennel Club ($555 value) and four “Bear Trap” passes to the 2014 Honda Classic ($400 value). Second place will receive $500 cash and two Bear Trap passes, while third is $400 and two passes.
There also will be celebrity bounties, good for two one-day general admission passes to the Honda Classic to those who knock them out.
There are $20 rebuys to go with the $50 buy-in. Check-in starts at 11:30 a.m. and the cards fly at 12:30 p.m. at the kennel club, 1111 N. Congress Ave., West Palm Beach.
