Isle's French connection

It’s summertime, when a lot of people visit Europe. Others watch a bike race on TV.

So the Isle Casino and Racing is bringing France to its casino, with French-inspired promotions, including three trips to the country.

Promotions manager Dana Filetti says the casino is looking to add more themed months, and with the excitement of the Tour de France, everything just fell into place.

“The Tour de France was kind of our inspiration,” she says.

Casino decorations include an Eiffel Tower and a large Arc de Triomphe near the casino’s center bar. Isle’s Fresh Harvest buffet will serve French items, Myron’s Deli will offer French Toast Tuesdays and servers will were berets.

The biggest promotion is called French Escape Giveaway, taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays in July.  On July 20, the casino will send someone to Paris. All trips include $5,000 cash, and, unlike when a casino gives away a car, winners can’t sell their trip back to the casino for cash. You have to take the trip. Life is tough sometimes.

Players who earn 250 slot points between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesdays earn a prize.  On July 17, it’s French roast coffee. And on July 24, it’s a French press.

The slot tournament from 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays is called Le Tour de Isle, and awards $2,500 to the winner.

And at 6 p.m. July 27, the casino will host Carrie's Closet, an homage to Carrie Bradshaw, the main character in HBO’s “Sex and the City.” She went to Paris toward the end of the show, so give it to ’em. The prize is a $2,000 gift card to Nordstrom.
