Every casino offers the most games possible allowable by state law; it's just that those laws are, well, a little confusing.
Just a quick tip, here: Not every casino offers the same games.
So, here we go:
If you go to a casino operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida (that would be the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, the Seminole Casino Hollywood Classic or the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek), you'll have live blackjack, baccarat and other table games, as well as poker and slots. The Seminoles pay the state for exclusive rights to live blackjack, baccarat and gimmicky games such as 3-card poker and War in Florida. No one has live roulette or craps. Anywhere.)
If you go to the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming in west Miami-Dade (500 SW 177th Ave., Miami, 877-242-6464), you'll have poker and slots.
You also can smoke at those places; because they're on sovereign land, they're not subject to the Florida Clean Indoor Air Act.
Now, if you go to one of the horse tracks, dog tracks or jai-alai frontons, you'll have no live blackjack (just virtual machines), but you'll have slots and poker, and, recently, electronic dice and roulette in most places. And in some cases, live racing or jai-alai.
Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino, 901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-454-7000; (Also, live horse racing. Check GulfstreamPark.com);
Mardi Gras Casino, 831 N. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-924-3200 (also live dog racing at 7 p.m.);
Isle Casino & Racing Pompano Park, 1800 SW Third St., Pompano Beach, 954-972-2000 (live harness racing some evenings);
Dania Casino and Jai-Alai, 301 E. Dania Beach Blvd., Dania Beach, 954-927-2841 (live matches days and evenings; check BetDania.com);
Calder Casino & Race Course, 21001 NW 27th Ave., Miami Gardens, 305-625-1311 (CalderRaceCourse.com for horse racing schedule);
Magic City Casino, 450 NW 37th Ave., Miami, 305-649-3000 (check MagicCityCasino.com for dog racing schedule).
Casino Miami Jai-Alai, 3500 NW 37th Ave., Miami; Miami, (check CasinoMiamiJaiAlai.com for jai-alai schedule).
Hialeah Park Casino (2200 E. Fourth Ave., Hialeah, HialeahPark.com for quarterhorse racing, 305-885-8000)
No smoking is allowed indoors as those venues; but the Isle and Mardi Gras placed slots outside, too, for patrons to play and puff.
Poker only (no slots):
Palm Beach Kennel Club, 1111 N. Congress Ave., West Palm Beach, 561-683-2222 (dog racing evenings; check PBKennelClub.com).
The Bimini SuperFast sails out of Miami and has sports book, table games, roulette and craps and slots, but no poker. Go to RWBimini.com.
Then there's always the lottery. Powerball and Florida Lotto drawings are Wednesday and Sunday nights; MegaMillions is Tuesdays and Fridays; Fantasy 5 is every day, and Cash 3 and Play 4 are twice daily.
