That's a lotta scratch: The Florida Lottery announced Tuesday that it set a record for scratch-off sales for the week ending Saturday.
Sales exceeded $63 million, the best in the lottery's 25-year history.
Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O’Connell said the increase is because of the games offered.
“By staying ahead of the curve and offering new and diverse games, we have kept our players seeking the fun and anticipation that comes from playing Florida Lottery games," she said via press release.
Millionaire led in sales with $9.7 million, followed by Gold Rush Tripler ($8.4 million). The LIFE Family of Scratch-Off games, which launched last week, did $8.6 million in business. Here's my previous story about the Life games.
The Florida Lottery offers approximately 60 Scratch-Off games at any given time through vending machines or counter displays at more than 13,000 retailers statewide. They make up about 58 percent of all lottery sales.
