A Lakeland man took home the grand prize during the live on-field giveaway Monday night at the Discover BCS National Championship game at SunLife Stadium.
Michael Guerin, of Lakeland took the grand prize (he's pictured with Lottery Secretary Cynthia O'Connell). The other finalists, Katrina Baker, of Jacksonville, Edward Moats, of Tampa, Karen McCullough, of Jacksonville, and Akil Patel, of Boca Raton, each won $250,000 cash prizes.
The five finalists were selected as finalists for the Million Dollar Giveaway by entering their non-winning tickets into the 25th
Anniversary Millionaire Second Chance Promotion on the Lottery’s website. An additional 25 players have won prizes of $25,000, and 2,500 players won free Scratch-Off tickets during the 12-week promotion.
The players peeled off the top layer of an oversized scratch-off ticket to reveal their prize amount.
Since the launch of the Millionaire Scratch-Off game on Sept. 25, Florida Lottery players have won more than $155 million prizes. The $25 tickets are still available for purchase with more than $141 million in prizes remaining to be won, including 13 $1 million prizes and two $5 million prizes.
