Mardi Gras poker goes for more personal comps

Offering huge high hand poker jackpots is known in the business as "renting" players, because once the big bucks disappear, so do the players.

So Mardi Gras Casino is trying something different in November, including better comps for players.

"We are moving in a different direction," Director of Poker Operations David Litvin said. "What we’re doing now is meant to be more personal and player specific. It is targeted toward the individual, their voucher, their play, their comps."

The deals include $3 per hour comps on all live games during November and a “Full House Frenzy” $40 voucher promo available from midnight to 4 a.m. valid the next gaming day, which is an addition to the $40 voucher available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. There also will be more weekday swag, such as hoodies, hats, T-shirts, mugs, towels and umbrellas.

The high hands: $100 every half hour from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday, $250 at every 2 hours from noon to midnight Sundays through Thursdays; $500 every half hour from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and $200 every half hour from 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

The poker room, called The Big Easy, is at 831 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach.
