As the high-hand arms race continues to escalate, Mardi Gras Casino's Big Easy Poker Room reaches into its till: The casino has $1,000 high hands every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The fine print: That's if the high hand hits at $2-$5 no-limit or higher. It's $750 for $3-$6 limit or higher and $500 for other games, such as $1-$2 no-limit.
Qualifying starts at 10 a.m. and players can win with zero, one or two cards in hand.
For the night owls, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., it's $50 for any full house of 10s or better, $100 for any four of a kind, $250 for any straight flush and $500 for any royal flush.
Last month, high hands paid $500, $750 if won in $3-6 limit or higher or $2-5 no limit or higher.
Director of Poker Operations David Litvin called his room's promos the most aggressive in the area, and I'm prone to agree.
