You can still get NFL action at casinos

Florida has no legal sports book (though we do have one offshore), but casinos still have plenty of ways to attract football prognosticators.

At Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino,  any gambler who picks 220 games correct over the entire NFL season will win $1 million.

That’s a long shot, but someone will win $800 each week in the season for making the best picks. Guests have from 9 a.m. Tuesday through 4 a.m. Sunday to make their selections, and Gulfstream posts the prize winners at noon Tuesdays.

The casino is also offering the Monday Night Match Up, from 6 to 10 p.m. Mondays in September. The weekly winners will return on Sept. 30 for a Big Game giveaway (casinos shy away from using the words “Super Bowl”) that will include airfare, tickets and hotel to the Super Bowl in New Jersey.

Mardi Gras Casino is offering Monday Night Football Cash. Slot players who earn 20 points will have from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday to enter a drawing held at the end of the game. If your entry is drawn from the winning team’s barrel, you will win $500.

Following the conclusion of Calder Casino and Race Course’s baseball-themed Big League Classic comes the $45,000 Pigskin Picks Kiosk Game. Patrons have from 9 a.m. on Wednesdays through 10 a.m. on Sundays to pick the NFL games. The Top 20 scores share more than $1,500 free play, with $500 to the winner. The top 100 winners at the end of the season will share more than $12,000 in free play.

Guests can watch their favorite NFL games in the Twin Spires Tavern from 1 to 10 p.m., and then with a receipt of $15, visit the Players Club and have a shot at winning up to $100 free play or other prizes.

And every hour from 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays is the $40,000 Gridiron Classic. Guests will pick a character that will dash its way to the end zone to score up to $500 free play.

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will pay $10,000 cash for the week and $15,000 for a month in its promotion. Game-card selections must be submitted in person by 11:59 p.m. Saturdays. Standings will be posted in the Player’s Club every Tuesday by 6 p.m., with weekly drawings for $10,000 in free play (to 10 winners) held at 8 p.m. in the Main Lobby. The weekly champion will have until 6 p.m. the following Friday, four days after the winners are posted, to claim the prize. The next week’s promotional game cards will be available at 12:01 a.m. Mondays. For free play, players must be present to win and will have four minutes to claim their prize.

Monthly, the contestant with the most correct picks in the four-week range will collect the $15,000 cash prize.

At season’s end, the guest with the most correct picks will win $25,000 cash. Runners-up will get $15,000 in free play and $10,000 in free play. Even those with the fewest correct picks can get lucky with a chance to win $10,000 cash, $3,000 in free play and $2,000 in free play, respectively.

Players may earn a maximum of one additional game card for every five comp dollars earned playing slots per day, Monday through Saturday.

Stax Poker Lounge at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek employs the pick-a-square game for Monday Night Football. The first 100 players who hit four of a kind or better will receive a square. The winners after each of the first three quarters will receive $199. The grand prize winner will get $2,500.

And for those people who want to bet on the games in live action, there’s the Bimini SuperFast ship out of Miami. The sports book carries everything from straight wagers to parlays and in-game wagers. If the game stinks, there’s blackjack, roulette craps and baccarat onboard. Book via
