A 10-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot of $1,961,806.16 has been carried over to Friday's closing-day program at Gulfstream Park, and it all has to go.
A Gulfstream press release notes that a mandatory payout of the entire pool will highlight Friday's 13-race program, during which Rainbow 6 wagering will be conducted on races eight through 13. Several millions more are expected to be wagered on the innovative wager to surpass the record $5.1 million Rainbow 6 pool that was disbursed on closing day in 2011, the release says.
The carryover pool has built up steadily since a New Jersey bettor cashed for record $3,591,245.44 on Feb. 22. The winning ticket, which cost $3,118.50 in 10-cent combinations, was placed at the Meadowlands.
In order to collect the entire pool, a bettor must hold the only unique ticket to include the winners of the last six races on the program. On Thursday, there were multiple tickets sold with all six winners, each worth $303.16. When there are multiple tickets with all six winners, they share in 60 percent of that day's wagering pool, while 40 percent is added to the carryover.
