Hialeah grand opening and other casino promotions

Hialeah Park Casino (2200 E. Fourth Ave.,, 305-885-8000) will hold its formal grand opening with a three-day party this weekend. It will start with fireworks at 9 p.m. Friday, followed by the launch of the weekly Salsa Under the Stars series, featuring headliners Hansel y Raul. Willy Chirino will perform 9 p.m. Saturday, and from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, the daytime Jazz in the Park series will commence with saxophonist Joe Donato.

What would you rather win: a car or cash? Seminole Classic Casino (4150 N. State Road 7, 954-961-3220, will give patrons a choice on Saturday. Every 30 minutes, from noon to 5:30 p.m., four players will be chosen with one qualifying for the grand-prize drawing. All others will win $100 in free play. At 6 p.m., qualifying participants will choose either the $10,000 cash barrel or the Jeep Grand Cherokee barrel to deposit their entry. One player will be drawn from each to win. Everyone else will get $400 in free play.

Seminole Casino Coconut Creek (5550 NW 40th St., 954-977-6700, will give away a Mercedes at the stroke of midnight tonight. A drawing will be held at 11 p.m. in which one winner will receive $5,000 cash. At midnight, one person will win a new Mercedes, and then at 1 a.m., 20 winners will win $500 free play each.

Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino (901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-454-7000, caps off a month of promotion with its $50,000 guaranteed from 6 to 10 p.m Saturday. The casino will award $10,000 every hour that night. Meanwhile, Gulfstream has a kickoff party (get it?) for its $1,000,000 Pro Pick ’em Challenge. From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 3, the casino will give away 10 Miami Dolphins season tickets, Dolphins apparel and memorabilia.

Mardi Gras Casino (831 N. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-924-3200, will celebrate Labor Day Monday with triple points for players from 9 a.m. to midnight.

Magic City Casino (450 NW 37th Ave., Miami, 305-649-3000, will host a free concert starring U.K. pop band Wang Chung at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Stage 305. The band garnered five Top 40 hits, including their smash 1986 single, “Everybody Have Fun Tonight.”
