World Series of Poker officials conducted their annual pre-series news conference on Wednesday, for the 62 events that will run from May 29 to July 15 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
New this year is The Millionaire Maker, a $1,500 buy-in event on June 1 that awards $1 million to the winner.
The main event will take place July 6-15, at which time play will be halted until November to be shown live on ESPN and ESPN2 Nov. 4-5, in case anyone is planning their vacation schedule and also expects to be playing those days.
WPT officials note that prize pools should exceed XX -- "more than the PGA tour," noted WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.
"We think they'll be huge." he said.
The WSOP also finally bought in to the fantasy poker craze, announcing a partnership with FantasyPokerManager.com, and said all final tables will be livestreamed.
They also responded to the announcement that Doyle Brunson is retiring (although he did so on Twitter).
"He has been an ambassador for all of these years, but we're hopeful we can talk him into Brett Farve-ing one time," he said.
