WPT-related events abound

The World Poker Tour Regional Summer Slam begins Tuesday at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, and it includes 11 events.

The series begins with a $5,000 free-roll tournament and the Andy Slater See You Later monthly tournament with the 640 AM sports-talk host. To register for the $5,000 free tournament at noon Tuesday, tweet “#STAXWPT” along with your full name to @STAX_Poker. Slater’s tournament will begin at 6 p.m., and buy-in is $64.

The main event carries a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool and costs $350 to enter. There are six Day 1 entry points: at 6 p.m. May 22-23 and noon and 6 p.m. May 24-25. The series will be held in the Pavilion, rather than the poker room.

The WPT and the Seminole Tribe have a multiyear partnership that includes several WPT-branded events, but they are not televised. That includes the Tampa Bay Regional Summer Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa from May 31 to June 9. The 16-event series includes a $1,500 main event June 7-9.
