The second annual Add On for Autism charity poker tournament is set for Nov. 7 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, and there's a couple of famous players showing up.
That's Karina and Chip Jett, popular players who also write a column for Card Player magazine.
All money raised will go to Andra's Hand, a 501(c)3 organization supporting families and children with autism.
“After a very successful tournament last year, I’m thrilled that The Poker Room at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has agreed to host the tournament once again,” said Eric Lazarus, Chairman of Andra’s Hand.
Along with the $10,000 grand prize, a prize will be awarded to the individual who knocks out Karina or Chip Jett. The last woman standing gets a High Heel Poker Tour [http://www.highheelspokertour.com/] gift basket. Additional prizes will be awarded, and all players will get a photo and autograph with Karina and Chip Jett. The grand prize is based on enrollment of 150 entrants.
Autism is a developmental disorder that affects an untold number of Americans. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported that autism and similar disorders are more common than previously believed, affecting boys three to four times as often as girls.
The mission of Andra’s Hand’s is to raise funds to direct toward increasing knowledge and public awareness for autism in the South Florida community. The organization provides scholarships and other educational and support programs to families with children affected by the disorder. The charity is especially known for their holiday program, Helping Hands, which gives underprivileged families affected by autism a chance at having a happy holiday.
