New '23 poker' at Isle

If you’re tired of losing out to flushes and straights playing Texas hold ’em, Antonio Pinzari has a game for you.

Pinzari, a professional player, author and instructor, calls it “23 Poker,” because players get three face-down cards (keeping two), and then the dealer turns over three community cards, one by one, with betting rounds in between.

The “get-three, discard-one” starting point makes pairs more likely, and the five-card format dramatically reduces the chances of a player making a straight or a flush, he notes.

“It feels like pure poker,” Pinzari says.

He contracted with the Isle Casino and Racing to introduce the game, which can range from low-limit to no-limit. The game made its debut Oct. 3.

Earlier this year, Pinzari brought Wild Tallahassee Poker to the Isle, a seven-card game, with the final card being wild.
