In South Florida, we're not used to frigid temperatures, but one thing we know well is how to throw a party. Dubbed "the hottest winter in the world," the Winter Party Festival, a popular gay event that raises money for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, returns to Miami this Wednesday through Monday.
This year's roster of DJs includes notables such as AJ Reddy, Alyson Calagna, Brett Henrichsen, Chris Cox, Giangi Cappai and Tony Moran.
Here's a roundup of the festival's best bets.
Spark: The kickoff soiree will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Winter Party's headquarters, the Shelborne hotel, at 1801 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. The party will continue at Twist (1057 Washington Ave., Miami Beach) starting at 10 p.m.
ArtScape: From 7 to 11 p.m., "True Blood" actress Jessica Clark will host a bash 50 stories up on the rooftop of the Viceroy Miami (485 Brickell Ave.). The party will include an open bar, an art auction and artwork by local artists. Admission is $30.
Lincoln Road shopping event: If you need something sexy to wear over the weekend, American Apparel (720 Lincoln Road) is offering 10 percent purchases Friday. Complimentary cocktails will be provided by Grey Goose. From 7 to 9 p.m., the Macy's down the block (1675 Meridian Ave) will host a party with a fashion show, a raffle giveaway and free cocktails.
