Though it notched three nominations, the Emmy snub heard round the Twitterverse went to Fox's hit drama "Empire." But it wasn't all heartache on nominations morning: First-time Emmy nominee Tatiana Maslany finally locked in a long-deserved nomination, and her jubilant fans took to social media to celebrate.
The 29-year-old newcomer has played about a dozen clones discovering each other and their origins for three season on BBC America's sci-fi series, and she was dubbed the queen of the snubbed at the Emmys for the past two years, despite earning a Golden Globe nod last year. All that changed this year, when "Orange Is the New Black" star Uzo Aduba and "So You Think You Can Dance" judge Cat Deeley called out her name at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood on Thursday morning.

TIMELINE: Emmy winners, year by year
As usual, fans lamented the dismissal of their favorite shows and called out the Television Academy for having a narrow world view.
Not that I care much for the Emmys, but I'm disappointed by the nominations.— Tiph le bisounours. (@ahumanespresso) July 16, 2015
"Empire," Fox's rookie drama, got three Emmy nominations: one for breakout star Taraji P. Henson, who plays sassy and scheming matriarch Cookie Lyon, and two for costume design. However, the hit show, which had been considered a shoo-in, was edged out of the best drama category, despite the field being expanded from six shows to seven.
Followers applauded the oft-quoted Henson's nod, but bemoaned costar Terrence Howard and Jussie Smollett's snubs and the lack of acknowledgement of the hip-hop soap's place in the pop culture zeitgeist.

Meanwhile, it wouldn't be Twitter without some off-the-wall commentary.
Though nominating Nicole Kidman's hair without nominating Nicole Kidman is a slap in the face. She's the driving force behind her hair.— Guy Lodge (@GuyLodge) July 16, 2015
