Born in Lima, Peru, and raised in Peru and Venezuela, Magaly Morales immigrated to Florida with her family in 1989. In 1994, Morales joined the Sun-Sentinel as an information researcher.

Since February 2000, she has written a weekly column about the Spanish-language television and radio industries that serve South Florida, where 28 percent of of the population is Hispanic.
