Guitar slinger and Austin native Gary Clark Jr. is one of the new faces of contemporary men’s lifestyle brand John Varvatos. For the brand’s spring 2013 campaign, Clark joins legendary musician Jimmy Page. The campaign ads were shot at the famed 1950’s art deco Rivoli Ballroom in London.
Clark joins a string of rock ’n’ roll style makers who have been past John Varvatos collaborators such as Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick and Green Day among others.
“Gary Clark Jr. is the real deal – amazing guitar player, singer, songwriter and friend,” said designer Varvatos in a statement. “Having ‘The Master’ and the ‘Young Guitar-Slinger’ together in our campaign is a dream come true.”
Clark wears a Lichen green linen/viscose asymmetric closure peak lapel cutaway jacket with split label seam, a matching vest and wide straight leg dress pants and Bowery boots. Some shots also feature Clark wearing John Varvatos retro sunglasses. The campaign’s short film also features Clark performing “When My Train Pulls In.”
Clark’s debut album “Blak and Blu” was released in October, the same month he stepped onto the Austin City Limits Music Festival stage at Zilker Park. To watch the John Varvatos’ short film and see the new spring line, visit johnvarvatos.com.Copyright © 2015, South Florida
