Dan Hosker, the South Florida guitarist best known for his work in the scarily good post-punk band the Holy Terrors, passed away on Aug. 11 as a result of injuries he suffered in an automobile accident on I-95. A wildly inventive musician, an expert conversationalist (he listened as much as he spoke) and a friend to nearly everyone who met him (including certain members of the local press), Hosker would have turned 47 this Sunday, Dec. 9.
To celebrate his life and music, his bandmate/best friend Rob Elba has organized a weekend-long celebration featuring many of Hosker’s collaborators (Mr. Entertainment, Boise Bob, Rat Bastard) and admirers (far too many to list here).
The music will begin at 8:45 p.m. Saturday and kick up again 8 p.m. Sunday (following a barbecue that will begin at 6) at Churchill’s Pub, 5501 N.E. Second Ave., in Miami. Admission is $5, with proceeds benefiting a music scholarship established in Hosker’s name. Go to ChurchillsPub.com.
