Boston One fundraiser includes music, former Red Sox player

A fundraiser that combines music, running and a landmark bar is set for Wednesday night in Delray Beach.

The Boston One Fund Fundraiser includes five local bands, groups such as the Palm Beach and Boca Raton running clubs and regulars at Boston's on the Beach, which has operated for 33 years on A1A. Money raised will go to the One Fund, formed to assist victims of and families affected by the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15 and the incidents that followed.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. and go until about midnight. Suggested donation is $10 at the door, and the restaurant/bar will donate its proceeds, as well.

"In the wake of the horrific events of that day, we are all patriots searching for a way to help," says Mark DeAtley, Boston's general manager.

Luis Alicea, a former second baseman for the Boston Red Sox, will appear, as will other sports personalities, a publicist says.

The bands playing for 45 minutes each are: McGowan's Chair, Amber Leigh Band, the Funkabilly Playboys, Blues Dragon, and Famous Frank Ward and the Blue Tuesday All-Stars.

Celebrity bartenders (who are there to boost tips), a silent auction and raffles also are planned at Boston's, 40 S. Ocean Blvd. Go to
