This week's concerts: A little less 'SongVersation'

Just when you thought Justin Timberlake and Jay Z had locked up the worst tour name of 2013 with their Legends of the Summer Stadium Tour, along comes Soulbird Presents: A SongVersation with India.Arie. At least with this concert, you'll get a singer whose spectacular voice requires no Auto-Tuning. The R&B artist will perform 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Fillmore Miami Beach. Tickets cost $32.50-$45. Go to FillmoreMB.com.

"I crack up laughing when I read something calling me 'the sensuous jazz chanteuse,' " Jane Monheit told the Sun Sentinel's Ben Crandell earlier this year. "Have these people met me? Most of the time, I feel like a big, dork 9-year-old." The former big, dork 9-year-olds reading this — and writing this — are likely to disagree. The jazz singer will play four shows — 7 and 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, and 7 and 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 — at Jazziz Nightlife in Boca Raton. Tickets cost $55-$85. Go to JazzizNightlife.com.

The less said about R. Kelly and Lynyrd Skynyrd the better, but if you must know: Kelly will play the James L. Knight Center 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, and the "Freebird" loons will appear 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Magic City Casino's Stage 305. Go to JLKC.com and MagicCityCasino.com.
