After five years as a Miami fall staple, the III Points Music, Art and Technology Festival will skip 2018 and host its sixth edition Feb. 15-17, 2019, in Wynwood.
Tickets cost $111 for general admission and $195 for VIP and will go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, via IIIPoints.Frontgatetickets.com. No acts on the 2019 bill have been named yet, but III Points organizers say a full lineup will be announced in the fall.
Organizers, who announced the date change Wednesday on the III Points website, blame two years of busy hurricane seasons for its decision to move the festival, historically in October, to Valentine’s Day weekend 2019.
“As many of you know, through the years we’ve faced some challenges — a right of passage for any independent festival,” a message posted on the website reads. “Challenges ranging from Hurricane Matthew, the Zika craze in Wynwood, and most recently Hurricane Irma last fall […] Thanks to you, the beautiful Miami core local scene we got through and out the other side, alive and well […] With that being said, and with the hope and mission to make III Points a festival that will live on 10-20-30 years in the future, we have decided to fully respect Mother Nature and leave our October dates.”
Festival organizers say more than 40,000 people packed the Mana Wynwood Convention Center for the 2017 III Points, which featured installations, virtual-reality experiences, food and demonstrations devoted to the intersection of art, music and technology.
