Free concert: Kelsea Ballerini at CityPlace

Country star @KelseaBallerini sets free concert June 2 at @cityplacewpb.

Young country-music star Kelsea Ballerini, last month named the best new female vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards, will perform a free concert Thursday, June 2, at CityPlace in downtown West Palm Beach.

The concert, sponsored by CityPlace and radio station WIRK 103.1-FM, will include a performance by former "American Idol" contestant Emily Brooke.

A protégé of Taylor Swift, Ballerini has a growing list of hit singles, including her 2015 breakout "Love Me Like You Mean It," a song that made her the first female artist to debut at No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart since Carrie Underwood almost a decade ago.

The 22-year-old native of Knoxville, Tenn., also can be expected to perform "Dibs," a Top 10 single from her debut album, "The First Time," and her ode to distracted boys, "Peter Pan." Ballerini also has been known to spike her sets with snippets of songs from Rihanna, Britney Spears, Destiny's Child and the Backstreet Boys.

Kelsea Ballerini will perform 6 p.m. Thursday, June 2, on the plaza at CityPlace, 700 S. Rosemary Ave., in West Palm Beach. Admission is free. Visit
