On the 20th anniversary of her first and only multiplatinum album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” R&B icon Lauryn Hill will bring her 20-date “Miseducation” tour July 31 to Bayfront Park Amphitheatre in Miami.
Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, April 20 and cost $29.75 for general-admission lawn seats and $29.75-$194.74 reserved seats via Ticketmaster.com and pay-by-phone (866-448-7849). Presale passes are on sale now for Citibank cardholders, and will go on sale at 10 a.m. April 19 on the Live Nation mobile app.
The former Fugees wordsmith will perform the album in full during the anniversary tour, which will kick off July 5 in Virginia Beach and end Oct. 5 in St. Louis, with international dates to be announced.
A neo-soul masterpiece that catapulted Hill to five Grammy Awards, “Miseducation” carries an enchanting rawness that can still be felt in today’s pop landscape. (Cardi B's confessional dance hit "Be Careful” and Drake’s smooth groove “Nice for What,” for example, both sample Hill’s “Ex-Factor.”) “Miseducation” soared to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart after its release on August 25, 1998, aided by her No. 1 single “Doo Wop (That Thing).”
Last weekend at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Hill honored late jazz pioneer Nina Simone with a medley of covers, including “Feeling Good” and "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair."
