Tonight, Darius Rucker will be singing the national anthem at the Heat-Spurs game.
Rucker sings country now, but he found fame as the frontman of the 1990s pop-rock band Hootie and the Blowfish. In 2009, he became the first African-American to win the New Artist Award from the Country Music Association.
The Heat usually have 12-year-old Julia Dale sing the national anthem as their good-luck charm. Last year during the NBA finals, such artists as 16-year-old "American Idol" runner-up Jessica Sanchez took the podium to sing.
