With the Smashing Pumpkins, Train and the Offspring, the just-announced lineup for SunFest 2013, running May 1-5, seems reminiscent of, oh, Lollapalooza ’94.
The waterfront music and art festival announced its lineup on Thursday, splitting the bill among ‘90s veterans and chart-toppers from this side of the millennium, plus a few hitmakers from the past.
Jacksonville’s Yellowcard and Gainesville’s Less Than Jake are among the native Florida acts this year (and both punk bands are blasts from the ‘90s). But festivalgoers may also enjoy the diverse sounds of British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, reggae rockers Slightly Stoopid, alt-rock stalwarts Barenaked Ladies and rappers Kendrick Lamar and Mac Miller. Also performing are the Airborne Toxic Event, Life in Color, Reel Big Fish, Molly Hatchet, Gary Clark Jr., the Chevin, Tribal Seeds, the Lone Bellow, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. There are also distant-past throwbacks Boz Scaggs and Cheap Trick, 2012 "American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips and the Black Crowes.
SunFest 2013 takes place along the Intracoastal Waterway in downtown West Palm Beach. Tickets cost $30-$37 for a one-day pass, $46-$54 for a two-day pass and $61-$69 for a five-day pass ($55 if purchased at a participating TD Bank location).
