After a year that saw her return to the big screen, the recording studio and Broadway, singer-actress Cher will return to the road and the concert stage in 2019 with a tour that will stop Jan. 19 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise.
Tickets will go sale 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000. They also will be available 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at the BB&T Center box office at 1 Panther Parkway. The Sunrise show will be the second on the Here We Go Again Tour, which will open Jan. 17 at the Germain Arena in Fort Myers and continue on to the Amway Center in Orlando (Jan. 21) and the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena (Jan. 23). Ticket prices were not immediately available from Live Nation, the tour’s promoter.
The tour takes its name from “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” the 2018 movie musical that features Cher in a starring role and music by Swedish pop group ABBA throughout. Cher will release a companion album of ABBA tunes titled “Dancing Queen” on Sept. 28. Every online purchase of a Here We Go Again Tour ticket will come with a free digital or physical copy of the album.
Expect to hear ABBA tunes scattered among Cher’s hits on the tour, which will commence a little more than a month after the opening of “The Cher Show,” a Broadway musical in which three actresses will portray the singer at different phases of her life and career. The twist is that the three Chers — one a teenager, one a young pop star, the other an icon — will appear onstage at the same time.
